Our Story

The journey, passion, and people behind Ounjẹ's authentic West African cuisine.

Our Beginning

Ounjẹ was born from a deep love for West African cuisine and a desire to share its rich flavors with the world. Our founder, Chef Adebayo Olatunji, grew up in Lagos, Nigeria, where he learned the art of cooking from his grandmother.

After training in culinary schools across Europe and working in renowned restaurants, Chef Adebayo felt called to return to his roots. He wanted to create a space where the vibrant, complex flavors of West African cuisine could be celebrated and shared with a wider audience.

In 2018, Ounjẹ opened its doors with a mission to honor traditional recipes while bringing a contemporary approach to presentation and dining experience.
